Ghosts and Other Memories

1.
It’s getting late, and you’ve gone to bed Now you’re all alone inside of your head The sweetest of dreams won’t mean a thing at all in the cold light of dawn She came along and made you a home A place you could rest when you weren’t on the roam But the sweetest of dreams don’t mean a thing at all in the cold light of dawn One chance to be where you should be Don’t turn your back on me Just like the bird that got hit by a car if you’d only flown higher, you may have gone far But the sweetest of dreams don’t mean a thing at all in the cold light of dawn

Walking along the pathway to school You turn to me as I turn to you Let’s get away just for today We’ll take a trip, we might even stay Just for today A bottle of wine, and we’ll be just fine We’ll head for the hills and swing from the vines We’ll lay in the grass, the sun shining down on us We took a chance and look what we found Just for today One day we’ll walk by the old school And we’ll think about this day when we do And we’ll have a laugh to take us away from what we’ve become, and what we can’t change Just for today

Real 03:35
I can see the breath of Spring blowing through your hair I can hear the song you bring, drifting on the air If I raise my voice to speak, would you disappear? If I raise my hand to touch, would you still be real? I have slept though many days, waiting for the one I awake to begin again, now that you have come If I raise my voice to speak, would you disappear? If I raise my hand to touch, would you still be real?
4.
Waiting 04:24
The world is a monster and it’s under your bed I turn on the light and it’s all in your head You come home from work with a knife in your back The lies are all turning from fiction to fact Life is an anchor and it’s holding you down but you can’t stop swimming, cause you know that you’ll drown The shore is in sight, but it’s so far away Night is now coming, let’s call it a day Waiting for the good times Waiting for the sunshine There’s so many worries that trouble your mind you know they don’t matter, so leave them behind You spill out your feelings to anyone near and lock them away from the ones you hold dear Taking for granted the love that you find Tears in your eyes so you can’t read the signs Waiting for the good times Waiting for the sunshine There’s so many worries that trouble your mind you know they don’t matter, so leave them behind You can’t trust a person who could be a friend You’re always afraid you’ll get taken again They sense your discomfort, so they turn away Confirm your suspicions, and ruin your day Waiting for the good times Waiting for the sunshine There’s so many worries that trouble your mind you know they don’t matter, so leave them behind

This Path 03:47
After all the damage cleared things went back to normal, I got lost, I didn’t make it there Things I should have seen by now I got sidetracked by the mesmerizing siren song of sound This path is strange, it looks the same Are those my bread crumbs on the ground? I’m so afraid we’re all alone Won’t someone come and lead us on? I hear you working down the hall If I could think of something new to say I’d yell it through the wall As I’m writing all this down you walk into the room and start to speak, but I don’t hear a sound This path is strange, it looks the same Are those my bread crumbs on the ground? I’m so afraid we’re all alone Won’t someone come and take us home?

The Storm 03:40
It was twenty years ago, he took her hand It wasn’t long before he ran He roamed from town to town, lived from day to day That night he drifted away He dreams a place that isn’t lonely He dreams of one he held so dear He dreams what could have been if only He dreams the words he longs to hear The night is cold, but the fire is warm Won’t you come in from the storm? It was forty years ago, she became his bride ’til the vow he spoke became a lie She never looked for anyone to take his place She still longs for his embrace Yeah the night is cold, but the fire is warm Won’t you come in from the storm? They dream a place that isn’t lonely They dream of those they once held dear They dream what could have been if only They dream the words they long to hear Ah, the night is cold, but the fire is warm Won’t you come in from the storm?
7.
Slumber 05:13
I come, I go, I see I run away from me One day I know I’ll be the one inside I see Who is always the one who knows what should be done Who is never afraid Always knows what to say Over time I have seen many things I’ve ignored and avoided my dreams I may seem to believe in nothing overwhelmed by the truths and the schemes I can almost recall how I once had it all Never planned for the fall now I’m learning to crawl I come, I go, I see I run away from me
8.
Pretty Does 04:35
Ghosts out of the past come back to haunt you Things you’d thrown away now weigh you down Beauty fades away, and now you’re lonely Had you know that then, would you have changed?
9.
Could this be a sign Something I should do Will I soon regret choices that I choose How could I have known where this road would go Never planned ahead Never thought that I needed what they need I’ll get by How could I have known Never planned ahead It’s not too late, there’s still time You’re not alone, there’s still time Could this be the key Will it get me through Will I ever be where I thought I’d be It’s not too late, there’s still time You’re not alone, there’s still time When will you be satisfied Make up your mind
10.
It’s the time of the year Can you hear what I hear Chestnuts roasting and jingle bells that bring glad tidings and cheer It’s so good to be home but if you’re all alone There’s a fire that can warm your bones when the ghosts of Christmas are near I’m coming home Please don’t be long Time has put us to sleep In our souls we will keep memories of how it used to be when the ghosts of Christmas were real I’m coming home Please don’t be long Those we’ve loved who are gone will return with the dawn In our hearts they will reappear when the ghosts of Christmas are here Close your eyes and you’ll feel them near when the ghosts of Christmas are here
